Provided by Interior Health

Provides cardiac rehabilitation through individualized education, health management counselling, and specialized medical care.
The Vascular Improvement Program (VIP) is for people who have had a heart attack, stroke, bypass surgery, angioplasty, artery or heart problems - or if a doctor has indicated that your blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, inactivity, weight, smoking, or stress is putting you at higher risk for vascular disease. VIP offers a program of education, exercise sessions, behavioural lifestyle counselling and medical management.

The Vascular Improvement Program is a one-year cardiovascular risk reduction program that provides multidisciplinary Cardiac Rehabilitation services. The primary focus is on post-MI; cardiac surgery and CAD (medical management) in the first year of diagnosis. A Primary prevention program is also available.

A referral from a family doctor or nurse practitioner is required and there is no cost for this program. The Vascular Improvement Program is available for people living within the IH West service area. Virtual and in-person services are currently available to improve access. Consult-only services are not available. All patients are followed over 6 months to a year by a multidisciplinary team including specialist physicians.
